Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers With Thelonious Monk is an iconic studio album released in 1958 by Atlantic Records. This collaboration between Thelonious Monk on piano and the Jazz Messengers led by drummer Art Blakey was preceded by various sessions for both Blue Note and Riverside. A month after these tracks were recorded, Monk began a summer/autumn residency at the Five Spot on Cooper Square and was propelled to fame amongst jazz fans. Atlantic released the album in order to capitalize on Monk's newfound celebrity.
