"Ornithologically Correct" birdpants. These are mounted in a handmade poplar 8"x8" stained black shadowbox frame using t-pins. Accurately sized for the bird shown, these are highly detailed, hand-pieced, painted, embellished, and accurately depict the colors of the bird in nature. They are intended to emulate a mounted butterfly or exotic insect - the combination of seriousness (scientific accuracy, mounted metal bookplate with Latin name, background lined with natural linen) and humor (birdpants!) makes these especially fun to display. The frame has picture wire for hanging. Even birds need pants!! About the Artist: Missy has a fascination with making tiny things, and after watching the chilly birds at her feeder, she thought she’d try my hand at making them some pants.
