What is a $2 Jawn? Here at the Ottsville Record Garage, when we identify a used album that potentially has a resale value of $7.99 or more, we will generally listen to that record to make sure you are getting an album worth the price we are charging. Conditions can vary and grading is always subjective. However, there is a personal value difference between a visually graded record for which you pay $0.99 and one for which you’ve paid $9.99. Even an album that looks flawless sometimes has a small scratch, scuff or factory defect that can cause noise, pops, skips or repeats. The only true way to grade the record is to play it. Albums listed as a $2 Jawn will have some sort of issue. Those issues can include, but are not limited to: Skips Repeats Warps Exceptionally noisy (static/pops) Excessive Wear (Surface scratches/scuffs) In a lot of cases, there may be 1 skip during grading.
