French artist Philippe Weisbecker's book is an exploration of 12 locations around Japan where he visited the makers of local toys related to the Chinese zodiac, written in drawings, essays, and photographs. Based on the serialization (October 2017-September 2018) of the monthly magazine Geijutsu Shincho (Shinchosha) and Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten's web media [Sanchi: Crafts and Exploration] (sanchi.jp), the book has been re-edited with additions and corrections.
