This block is made of natural wood used in India for woodblock dyeing. What is block printing? Woodblock dyeing (block printing) is one of the most popular dyeing techniques in India. Rajasthan and Gujarat are particularly famous for block printing, and there are several villages near Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, that specialize in block printing, each with its own techniques and patterns. Shisham (Indian rosewood) and teak wood are used for woodblocks for block printing. The woodblocks are made by expert carvers, and the lines of the block prints made by skilled craftsmen can be used clearly for as long as 50 years.
