An "8-minute vial" provides greater precision compared to a "40-minute vial," meaning the bubble within the 8-minute vial will move a shorter distance for the same amount of tilt, providing a more accurate reading for precise leveling tasks. Adjusting for tilt is an essential part of surveying.
