Chateau Haut-Segottes Clos Petit-Corbin Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux 2022

This second label from Chateau Haut-Segottes is 100% Merlot and showcases the purity of this honest varietal grown in its ideal soil and climate.  The fruit comes from just two plots; one in Forbin and one in Corbin with dark sandy soils.  After native-yeast fermentation in concrete tanks the wine is aged 12-18 months in mostly neutral barriques.  Red and black fruit intertwine in this elegantly structured St-Emillion, leading from subtle notes of tobacco, iron, and bay laurel into cassis, elderberry, plum skin, and black cherry.  Pairing: Braised beef short rib, Aged cheddar Soils: Sand and gravel  Grape: Merlot  Viticulture: Organic
