In 1912 he came to Jerusalem from his native Romania to study art at Bezalel Art Academy. Rubin returned to settle in Palestine in 1923 and, from then on his art was for ever inspired by its landscapes and its people. Rubin died in 1974 and his home on 14 Bialik Street .in Tel Aviv houses the Rubin Museum.
