I Want To Understand © 2003 ~ A song by Andrea Record & Dave Malm MP3

Andrea (I) wrote I Want to Understand as she was attempting to come to terms with her boyfriend, and musical partner David's severe depression. I'd never experienced the darkness he suffered and tried to help him through it. Anyone who's spent time with a clinically depressed individual learns that the recovery from these lows is a very personal process which the sufferer must figure out him/herself.  Still, it doesn't stop us from attempting to help them find respite. As with all my songwriting, I Want to Understand © 2003 simply 'landed' on me, with melodies and harmonies appearing as I dreamed it up a cappella.  I would then sing my song to David once, or twice and within moments he'd be composing the guitar or piano tracks, which included multiple tracks, drum and bass tracks and engineered in his home studio.  I took moments for this complex man and profound musician to build a world around, each of my songs.  Over the course of perhaps 2-3 years, we recorded together and remained
