The waistband curtain is a cotton ticking fabric reclaimed from 1960s USN cot covers, it hangs slightly below the waistband to hold the pants securely around your hips. I have left the front buttons exposed to reduce fabric bulk in the crotch - The penny buttons are stitched with a continuous length of waxed thread so that they hold each other secure. Keyhole buttonholes are replaced with a more secure straight buttonhole which fits the ring shank buttons perfectly. The bottom hem is left long so you can tailor if needed.
