Volcanic ash, or pumice, is a natural abrasive, filler, and ceramic material made by violent, explosive volcanic eruptions. It's extremely porous, a form of volcanic glass made of irregular shaped particles with sharp edges caused by tiny bubbles. This "foamy" air bubble mineral is a natural lightweight filler that can make lightweight objects when mixed with resins or cements. When found in chunks it can float on water. A rock that can float!
