This can be used for several things: in ceramics as a grog for texture or to "open" up a clay body, as a filler in liquid resins like epoxy, as an inexpensive sand blasting media, and more. Silica sand makes a good aggregate for art and craft items made of "concrete" (which is sometimes mistakenly called "cement"). Some of silica sand's advantages are lower cost over some of the other exotic aggregates and it's a light color which you will need if you're making a light colored concrete (you will need to use white portland cement rather than the standard gray also)....(see more)
