These short fibers cluster around 1 mm long. They are not a single length, varying from about 0.75 to 1.5 mm long. Their color is a dark blue. Rayon fibers have very regular axial grooving (when viewing microscopically). This gives them a tendency to move aligned side by side lengthwise which makes rayon feel "slicker" than some other fibers. Rayon is derived from cellulose which makes it a very interesting material.
