This is a coarse granular olivine (particle size is about 2 mm to 0.75 mm, with a few "fines"), which would be about 10x20 mesh size. Olivine sand is a refractory material which has a low silica content. It is a orthosilicate mineral found in nature with the chemical name "magnesium iron silicate".
