This is soft aluminum 1/8" solid wire. The title names it by its sculptural use as a "skeleton" for modeled sculpture in clay, plaster, or wax. It provides support for the material used while the sculpture is being built up. Most often it's used for clay (or plaster with mesh) because clay is heavy and, depending on the shape of your sculpture, is often not self supporting. A wire armature is usually attached to a piece of a wooden board with screws or staples.
