La Clarine Farm, Amber White Wine Sierra Foothills 2022
producer: La Clarine Farm region: California country: USA grape variety: grenache blanc, petit manseng, albarino production notes: woman winemaker/owner Hank Beckmeyer and Caroline Hoel are the owners and winemakers at La Clarine Farm in the Sierra Foothills. They founded the vineyard in 2001 after many years spent drinking wine and dreaming in the south of France. The pair met in Europe when Hank was on tour with his band, which he promptly quit to stay with Caroline. Today, they are making some of California’s most “do nothing wines” and their vineyards, while wild and unkempt, produce enough fruit for their flagship wine (which they make in very small quantities). This wine shows diamond focus and wild elegance. Notes of guava and key lime blend seamlessly with ripe pear. The texture is round and full with lots of mouthfeel to spare.
