Basella alba Open pollinated. Heirloom. 35 days. Malabar Climbing Spinach quickly grows 20 to 30" tall with large, flat, bright green leaves. Grows best in warm conditions with plenty of moisture. Especially good when shredded and added to chicken broth with ginger and tofu. Can build a salad around these leaves. Planting Directions: Sow seeds in spring after danger of frost has passed and soil temperatures have reached a minimum of 50°, optimum is 70°. Sow seed 1/4” deep in well prepared soil amended with rich compost and a general garden fertilizer. Plant along fence or use supports for climbing vines. Thrives during warm weather. Growth will slow in cooler weather.
