It's not retreating -- it's just advancing the opposite direction so you can find a better way to push through. The ability to get back out of a situation can be indispensable. With the rear facing winch, 2 additional recovery points, and the ability to mount a pair of rear facing LEDs, this bumper has you ready for night recoveries too. With aggressive angles on this winch bumper, we've designed this to retain as much departure angle as possible -- nearly identical to the factory departure angle in most scenarios depending on your spare tire/tire size.
