Children of Desire: Five Creation Stories From Around The World with Beatrice Bowles

MP3 Download Here Bowles has gathered creation stories from five different cultures to create a modern initiation experience. In traditional coming of age ceremonies, a creation myth often serves to introduce the initiate to enduring sources of wisdom as well as to the goddesses and gods of creation. In this collection, we meet many creators: Nana-Buluku from West Africa, a creator who is both female and male (performed by Luisah Teish); Ta'aroa from Tahiti, who gives his body to make all of nature (performed by Sidney Walker); Mother of Air and her daughter Mother of Water, who create Earth and Sky in the tradition of Northern Europe (performed by Courtney Benoist); Wanadi, from South America, a sky god who sends ambassadors to Earth (performed by Sidney Walker). We end up with a myth from the North American Hopi tradition, Tawa the sun spirit and Spider Woman, who guide Earth's evolution just as they do today, if we remember to listen! (performed by Beatrice Bowles). Joseph Campbell served as mentor to Bowles on this project.
