Morons From Outer Space / Alien From LA DVD VIDEO MOVIE 80's sci-fi NEW SEALED Type: Movie Platform: DVD Publisher: MGM (Video & DVD) Released: 2005 Media: DVD Morons from Outer Space / Alien from L.A.Morons from Outer Space features a charming trio of quirky aliens who leave their friend Bernard (co-writer Mel Smith) behind and land their rented spacecraft in England. There, they rise to fame as pop media stars with the support of an experienced television professional (co-writer Griff Rhys Jones). Bernard's adventure continues in America, where his unique interplanetary background brings him into contact with new experiences. This delightful satire by British television comedians Smith and Jones, directed by Mike Hodges (Croupier), shines with its early moments of humor, especially when the endearing trio interacts with British and American military personnel (including a memorable brief role by James B. Sikking as an enthusiastic American officer). Smith and fellow U.K. performer Jimmy Nail (playing the fun-loving spaceman Dez) contribute several memorable scenes. Mel Smith later went on to direct celebrated films such as Bean (1997) and High Heels and Low Lifes (2001).Alien from L.A. is an entertaining science fiction adventure featuring a smart and curious young woman (model Kathy Ireland, recognizable behind her signature Buddy Holly glasses) who uncovers a hidden civilization at the Earth's core. Guided by clues from a letter about her explorer father, she travels to North Africa (with the film filmed in South Africa) and discovers a fascinating pit containing the legendary spaceship Atlantis, which touched down underground many years ago. Alongside a helpful miner, she embarks on a journey to find her father and grows in confidence as she encounters fascinating creatures and intriguing Atlantean inhabitants. This fun and lighthearted tale, with its vibrant Mad Max-inspired aesthetics, offers enjoyment for fans of campy and cult classics, complemented by Ireland’s appealing costumes. The film was directed by Albert Pyun (The Sword and the Sorcerer), who collaborated again with Ireland for the 1989 follow-up, Journey to the Center of the Earth. For DVD Player (North American NTSC)
