EUROPA: 1930 - Big deck plan booklet from 1937 with cabin photos
North German Lloyd: A sixteen-page deck plan booklet dated 1937 covering both First and Second classes , or as they had just been renamed, Cabin and Tourist. The plan opens to a beautifully detailed photo of the ship sailing inward past the skyscrapers of 1930s Manhattan and finishes with longitudinal cutaway showing and class locations. The brochure then stretches wide to an arm-twisting 44", providing lots of detail in interior lay-outs and furniture placement. Nine decks are shown, from the a la carte restaurant and outside sports areas on Sun Deck down to the indoor pool on G Deck with its accompanying medicinal and electric baths, gymnasium, and, perhaps more to the point, a bar. Eleven photos on the back pages shows cabin types. The enormity of the EUROPA is seen on decks such as the Main Promenade where fourteen public rooms stretch on back-to-back, or on A where First Class cabins are lined up 4 across with the unusual design of 3 parallel corridors. Very good condition.
