Oya is the Yoruba Orisha of the Tempest: winds, storms, rain and hail. She is a very fierce, warrior goddess, and wife of Chango, also a storm god. She is said to be the Mother of Nine, the nine tributaries of the River Niger, and her rains are the source of these tributaries and the Niger. Worshiped not only in Africa, she is seen as very present in the New World, especially in Brazil, where she is regarded as the Mother of the Amazon River. Oya is also said to watch over the recently deceased, and she is therefor a psychopomp who aids the dead to their final rest. Graveyards are sacred to her because of this. My tribute oil to this stormy Orisha smells (to the best of my potioneer abilities) like rain and thunderstorms, and the freshly moistened Earth after rainfall. Use this oil reverently if you need to bring about or adjust to changes, or if you are a woman needing a champion or warrior to defend you and take your side in any dispute.
