Ehretia anacuaThe Anacua tree, affectionately known as the Sandpaper Tree or Knockaway, is a charming subtropical tree from the Borage family. This lovely ornamental tree is cherished in Texas and thrives beautifully in dry areas, reaching as far north as central Texas, although it might experience some dieback in the chill of winter. From spring through summer, the tree graces us with lovely clusters of white, fragrant flowers, and after that, it surprises us with bright, tasty orange fruits that ripen from April to June. While it does need a good amount of water to get started, it grows to be quite drought-tolerant over time.Height: 20-50'Bloom: October-MarchLight: Full Sun, Part ShadeWater: LowZone: 7, 8, 9, 10Origin: Southern Texas, Northern Mexico
