Writing the Declaration of Independence by J.L.G. Ferris

When the second Continental Congress met in 1776 to discuss a final separation from Great Britain, they formed a committee of 5 men to write this declaration.  Three members of this committee (Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson) are captured in this painting.
