Chateau Les Grands Chenes 2016 Medoc Bordeaux France
92 Points James Suckling - Very attractive red fruit and spices with a background, tarry edge that leads to a palate that offers ample sweet fruit on first impression with bright acidity and a long, fresh and flavorful, darker-fruit finish. The Typicity of a red Grand Vin from the Medoc, bearing the signature of Bernard Magrez. Situated in Saint-Christoly du Médoc on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, Château Les Grands Chenes has quite a rich history. The vineyards of the estate were planted around a fortress dating back to the 16th century. This Medoc wine region benefitted greatly from its proximity to the port of Saint-Christoly du Medoc, from which they shipped their wines, enjoying a great commercial boom. Owned by Bernard Magrez, the Chateau Les Grands Chenes estate expands over 46 hectares of vines planted on soils of Garonne gravel. The vines are 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is produced under the expert advice of famous French winemaking consultant Michel Rolland.
