Approximately 150 open-pollinated, non-gmo, and pesticide free heirloom ruby red swiss chard seeds (Beta vulgaris cicla) per packet. Used in salads, spices, soups, and stews. Grow to 2 feet tall. Originates from the Mediterranean and introduced to America in the mid-1800s. Grows in zones 3-12. Direct sow seeds 0.5 in deep starting 2-3 weeks before last frost. Space 8 in apart. Place in composted soil and full sun. Plant every 2 weeks for continual harvests. Germination takes 10-20 days. Plant again in fall. Keep soil evenly moist and mulch. Use eggshells to prevent slugs. Remove browning leaves. Start harvesting after 60 days when outer leaves are 6-8 in.
