Plastic amplifies noises of items in bins causing unfriendly sensory input Soft and durable vinyl fabric inside trays to minimize excess noise Takes up more storage space use not in use Collapsible and able to store flat Difficult to pour items out of bins Flexible material and unsnapping corners allows a smoother "funnel" for pouring out items BONUS: This type of tray is also commonly made from felt, which tends to have more grip, causing items to get stuck when pouring them out. The vinyl fabric in our trays allow items to smoothly slide right out. These trays allow our senses to be less overstimulated by reducing: noise when rummaging through the trays tactile frustration when moving sorted items into their storage containers visual clutter when sorting trays are not in use.
