Sumatra- Arisarina Cooperative
Arisarina Cooperative, established in 2013, is dedicated to improving coffee quality while preserving the Gayo Highlands ecosystem. Certified by USDA, EU NOP, and Fairtrade, the cooperative offers farmers training to enhance their processing techniques and coffee quality. To support farmers, Arisarina has invested in substantial infrastructure, including a warehouse, extensive drying space, and processing equipment. The cooperative melds traditional Indonesian coffee-growing practices with modern techniques, encouraging the use of shade trees and intercropping. Coffee cherries are processed using the wet hulling method, with the cooperative playing a crucial role in hulling and drying. Their commitment results in high-quality, certified organic and Fairtrade coffee, with small quantities of specialty coffee produced for local markets.
