Acer palmatum 'Winter’s Columnar Red' Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum 'Winter’s Columnar Red'Narrow Japanese Maple Zones 5-9 'Winter’s Columnar Red’ is a tight and dense upright Japanese maple that has a nice narrow form at a young age. Often the upright habit on ‘Winter’s Columnar Red’ is extremely columnar at a young age reaching 10 ft in height by 2-3 ft in width in 10 years. The dense habit continues as this tree ages, slowly getting more width without attaining a lot more height. Because of this habit, ‘Winter’s Columnar Red’ is excellent for tighter spaces where you need a medium size tree to provide some good color. ‘Winter’s Columnar Red’ has a nice bright red early spring color, turning to maroon by late spring. By mid-to-late summer a yellow green eye starts to show on the burgundy leaf creating a nice contrast. Fall color is brilliant red.‘Winter’s Columnar Red’ has also been known under the name ‘Winter’s Red’, not to be confused with a similarly named maple, ‘Winter Red’. Limited Quantities Available !!
