Acer japonicum x palmatum 'Shuriken' Full Moon Shuriken - Throwing Star Japanese Maple Zones 5-9 'Shuriken' is a unique hybrid between Acer japonicum and Acer palmatum found by a nursery that went by World Plants. While this tree was released before it was evaluated, after being evaluated at our nursery this 'Shuriken' really stands out from all the other full moon selections. 'Shuriken' gets a more jagged edge from the Acer japonicums, which is where 'Shuirken' gets its name which means "throwing star". 'Shuriken' gets its vigor from Acer palmatum. 'Shuriken' may reach 12-14 ft in 10 years.  The fall color is a mixture of bright oranges and reds. 'Shuriken' is a neat tree with a nice texture and great growth habit in the garden. It will really show off and will be a tree you will enjoy throughout the season.
