
Centipede Arcade Video Game
Rereleased multiple times and ported across a multitude of platforms, nothing captures the original arcade spirit better than the original Centipede cabinet itself, featuring the iconic trackball. Centipede is a classic arcade game from the golden age of video games. Released in 1981, Centipede challenges the player to destroy as many enemies as possible. During each level, they must destroy all the segments of a centipede, shooting off pieces one-by-one. When the centipede enters the bottom area of the screen where the gun moves, the player is in danger of colliding with the creature. Once it makes it to the bottom of the screen, new body segments are created that move within the player zone, and the centipede heads back up until it reaches the top of the player zone. It then repeats the process. When a centipede segment hits a mushroom or another segment, it reverses direction. The spider is another enemy that threatens the player in the Centipede arcade game.
