Moshe Rabeinu gave the Jewish people the Torah. Moshe Ben Maimon, the Rambam, wrote the Mishneh Torah to serve as "a compilation of the entire Oral Law, including the ordinances, customs, and decrees that were enacted from the time of Moses, our teacher, until the completion of the Talmud," so that "a person will not need another text at all with regard to any Jewish law." This monumental work enables “a person to first study the Written Law, and then study this text and comprehend the entire Oral Law from it.” The English edition of the Mishneh Torah, translated by Rabbi Eliyahu Touger,is a free-flowing, yet scholarly, translation of the Mishneh Torah.
