That can go either way in a case like that. Some grow up and say they will be a much better parent than their parent was, and others grow up feeling like this is the way it's done, and they continue on with the same behavior as their parents. It is unfortunate that Sissy's father chose to treat her and her family the way he did, because in the end, it resulted in Sissy's death. She only lived to be 11 years old. Her father locked her in a closet for punishment because he found a spot on the glass he was drinking from, and Sissy was the one who washed the dishes the night before. It was summertime, and this was before air conditioning was in existence, so it became very hot in the closet.
