Origin: EgyptCirca: Third Intermediate Period to Early Late Period, 1070 BC to 650 BCDimensions: 36.5” Height x 20” Width x 9” Depth (92.7 cm x 50.8 cm x 22.86 cm); With case 66” high x 22” wide x 16” deepMedium: Wood Gessoed and brightly painted, this sarcophagus fragment is comprised of an anthropoid inner coffin lid.  The deceased is represented wearing a striped tripartite headcloth, and adorned with an elaborate, multi-strand, beaded broad collar featuring falcon head terminals.  His face is painted an orange yellow, with large black irises inside of elongated eyes; the extended cosmetic lines of the eyes conform to the elegant brows above.  In superb condition this beautiful example is replete with fine details and robust color.
