(f)    This series of paintings was created with a loose thematic connection in mind, and while each piece is a completely separate stand alone work I imagine them also acting as stepping stones for an imagined story. “Behind the Mask” continues a theme that I explore often, that of man’s evolution and thoughts about our thin veneer of civility, the idea that humankind is just a hair’s breadth from reverting back to our less developed selves. The prehistoric fish climbs onto land with his simian rider aboard as luna moths encircle the pair under branches laden with heart shaped fruit.
