He is a highly skilled artist, with a substantial degree of conceptual brilliance. Surrealism is a challenging genre for any artist. Some of the Cuban artists tackle this challenge as well as artists anywhere in the world today. Where do these influences come from? Santana has participated in nearly 50 group shows, several solo shows, and has work in collections in Spain, Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands, Norway, the US, Canada, France, the UK, Italy, Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, Argentina, Slovakia, and Switzerland. Throughout Latin America, the European art movement Surrealism was enthusiastically accepted by certain segments of the artistic community.
