
Indian Mud Moray Eel (Gymnothorax tile)
Overnight shipping only on moray eels! Indian mud morays (Gymnothorax tile) are an attractive species of moray eel native to the western Pacific and Indian Oceans. They commonly inhabit bays and estuaries, and even lower portions of rivers. They are commonly found in soft-bottomed areas of sand or mud, making sand an ideal substrate in captivity. Mud morays are highly piscivorous and primarily feed on fish and crustaceans in the wild. Often sold as “freshwater snowflake morays”, they aren’t actually a freshwater species and do not do well when kept in pure freshwater for extended periods. They will often refuse to feed in freshwater and will develop a number of health issues. Juveniles especially are known to enter freshwater on occasion which is likely where this monicker comes from. Well-filtered, highly oxygenated water is necessary for captive success and water changes should be regular.
