Black Koi (Cyprinus carpio)

Currently available specimens are aquacultured/captive bred.  Care Level: Beginner. Diet: Omnivores that will accept a wide variety of foods and do very well on pellets/flakes. Adult Size: Up to 36” is possible. 12”-26” is more typical.  pH: 7.2-8.0 is ideal, however they can tolerate pH levels outside these ranges.  Water Temp: 65-77F is ideal, however they can tolerate a wide variety of temperatures.  Other Care Preferences: Koi have a preference for hard water and are hardy and adaptable to a wide variety of water parameters. Koi get very large and need heavy filtration, please keep this in mind if you plan on keeping them in an aquarium as opposed to a pond.
