Žilavka grows in the rocky land of sunny Herzegovina where the cold Alpine Neretva River draws in cool air to the vines at night to slow the ripening. This typical warm climate wine is crystal clear, greenish-yellow in color and has rich, nutty flavor. in 1353 a document shows that Bosnian king Tvrtko drank wine made of Zilavka, and Ivo Andrić, the Nobel Prize-winner for his literature, inspired by Žilavka wines, wrote his most beautiful poems. Fresh lively version of orange wine without the bitterness nor oxidation – wild honey, sweet citrus, green tropical fruits, star fruit, green melon, slight effervescent texture with refreshing, balanced acidity that elevates the fruit aspect.
