She is a licensed counselor whose focus includes working with individuals and families facing transitions. Her academic research explores development over the lifespan with a strong focus on women’s relationships and women’s developmental transitions. Nancy L. Davis, PhD, LMHC, LSC, is Associate Professor and Program Director, School Counseling, Purdue University . She has served in education for 46 years as teacher, professional school counselor, and professor. She is licensed and has served as an Indiana Professional School Counselor, Indiana Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Indiana English Teacher. Currently, Dr. Davis is actively involved with the American Counseling Association, the American School Counseling Association, the Association for Creativity in Counseling, and the Indiana School Counseling Association. Her activities include frequent presentations at the state and national level. Dr. Davis is also a reviewer for the Journal of Creativity in Counseling, and has also published articles related to spirituality, adult life review, and use of creative writing in counseling. Her interests in Narrative and Expressive Therapies were originally focused on working with elder populations and in hospice settings, but more currently her interests have evolved and focus on specific ways of using narrative and solution-focused techniques in schools.
