Limited Edition "Western Sun" Hand Carved Block Print 12"x16"

Limited Edition 1/8 Hand printed in 3 colors on hand made Japanese Mulberry paper. 12" x 16" This Limited Edition artwork is part of a collaboration between Southern California artist Matthew Allen and Journeux. Matthew hand carved and hand block printed the artwork on exquisite handmade Japanese Mulberry paper. This paper is handmade from the inner fiber of the mulberry to produce an exceptionally pure, translucent paper. Every hand made print is unique, with subtle variations in placement, ink density, and texture. The "Western Sun" artwork was inspired by the pillars of California's natural beauty, our Sierra Nevada mountains, our Pacific Ocean, and our Western Sun. For the project, Journeux asked Matthew to create a piece of artwork that celebrated the beauty and culture of the West. Ruminations on those ideas are below.
