Crushed Purple Amethyst Sand (Grade A) from Namibia, Medium Sand (0.25mm-2mm)
Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's crust. Many gemstones, such as amethyst, rose quartz, and citrine, are quartz varieties that have trace amounts of other elements within their crystalline structure. These trace elements produce the diverse variety of colors that we see in quartz. Amethyst owes its violet hue to irradiation of trivalent iron. This particular batch of crushed amethyst is from Namibia, which is known for its clarity (little to no inclusions) and vivid, purple hue. Amethyst is also the official birthstone for February. Our medium material is considered to be sand sized (very coarse sand to fine sand), ranging between 2 millimeters to 0.25 millimeters. Please see the corresponding sediment size chart.
