Learn From the Greats: Bobby Fischer Bobby Fischer was the 11th world chess champion and the only one (so far!) from the USA. His historic achievement has inspired several Hollywood movies and he is easily the most famous chess player ever. His games are filled with sparkling sacrifices and imaginative ideas. His games, played in a pre-computer era, remain highly instructive today. Beginners will study Fischer’s games to reinforce basic tactics like pins, forks, and discoveries. Even his masterpieces use these basic building blocks. More advanced students will examine some of Fischer’s opening ideas and analyze important endgames. Much has been said and written about Bobby Fischer the person but his chess really does “speak for itself”. Campers will learn what Bobby had to say … about chess.
