This is truly a unique specimen. It is 100% silica quartz, it has no matrix or host crystal it was growing on. Of course it had one originally but likely it was an airy or sandy medium that dissolved easily leaving us the remains of this wondrous specimen. Crysyal System: Hexagonal (Trigonal).
