Antique Chinese Shanxi Lidded Lunch Box from the early 20th century, beautiful weathered patina, large handle. The original finish was once deep black lacquer, worn over the years to a wonderful patina. With a long carrying handle, this box was used to transport food. We think this Chinese Box will make a unique decorative addition to your home. It was common for these boxes to hold lunch for rail workers laying tracks from Beijing to Datong, Shanxi Province. One of a kind antique purchased from a Collector's Estate.
