The Luna Tonic was crafted to give us the sweet blessings of natural restoration. Connect with the Moon energy of these beautiful herbs to listen deeply into the stillness that Night has to offer. Herbal Ingredients: *** Valerian - Valerian used to be referred to by ancient physicians as “phi” due to the pungency of its smell. Valerian has been utilized throughout time, including the Greeks and Celts, who used it to ward off evil and promote peace. This beautiful, though slightly odoriferous, plant is ruled by Neptune, the planet of dreams and the subconscious. Valerian equips us to abandon our stories that keep us bound up in a constrictive reality, and encourages us to dream big. ***Chamomile - Chamomile’s energy and its name refer directly to its grounding, calming energy. It’s name is derived from the Greek chamomaela, or “ground apple.” Vikings regarded Chamomile as one of the nine sacred herbs. Chamomile reminds us to not project our fears onto life and others, but allow ourselves to be wrapped in a cloak of protective love, reflecting the center of innocence, warmth and light that we all carry within us. Chamomile’s energy reminds us to be gentle in the world, with ourselves, and with others.***Skullcap - Skullcap is a beautiful adaptogentic herb whose name comes from the Latin scutella, or small dish or tray, which describes the shape of the calyx at the base of the flowers, which resembles a skull. It works on your emotional system, helping to ease emotional restrictions, and helps us to ground deeply into the stillness of the present moment, and assists in accepting change with ease when you are feeling exhausted, drained or depleted. It does also have the possibility to bring on late menses, so should be avoided if pregnant. ***Lavender - Lavender is one of the most widely recognized and utilized herbs, traditionally used to promote calm, focus energy, and help relieve aches and pains. Lavender carries the medicine of Spider, for it is a master communicator that weaves and syncretizes many disparate elements of our spiritual lives. Connecting to Lavender’s energetic frequency allows us to deeply rest in the spiral journey of our lives, while allowing it to facilitate a deeper alignment with our grounding principles.***Wild Lettuce - Ruled by the Moon, Wild Lettuce had a role in both Egypt and Greece, where it was used as an aphrodisiac, and as a meditation aid to calm and center the mind. It was traditionally used to help with sleep troubles, and nervousness. Wild Lettuce has an equally as beautiful, but infinitely more calming, presence to its cousins, the common garden lettuces. Do not use if you have a ragweed allergy.***Hops - Hops have long been associated with nighttime rest, although they are best known as the herbal magic behind beer. Traditionally, it was thought that sleeping on a pillow stuffed with hops would ensure a peaceful rest. They have been used to aid with stress, and to encourage a good night’s rest. ***Lemon Balm - Lemon Balm - Sweet Lemon Balm, also known as Melissa officinalis, is derived from the word Melissa, which was Greek for “honeybee” and described its role in the Temples of Artemis to keep the sacred honeybees happy. Lemon Balm has been used by many cultures for its relaxing effect from stress, anxiety and dark moods. It heals our Mother wounds, especially, and most importantly, that with Mother Earth. ***Passionflower - Passionflower- Passionflower is a beautiful flower from Central and South America, named for the Passion of the Christ. It was also known as the ‘flower of the five wounds’, referring to Christ’s stigmata. The five petals and five sepals of the flowers represent the 10 apostles, and the circle of hairlike rays on the petals represents the crown of thorns. Passionflower has been traditionally used for calming and helping with muscle discomfort. It is also used to cleanse the spirit, acting as a bridge to “Christ Consciousness’, a direct connection to the voice within, and encourages us to honor our intuition. ***Eschscholzia californica - The earliest reference to this herb was found in Sumer, now Iraq and Kuwait, back to 3400 B.C. The Sumerians grew it for its euphoric properties. These beautiful flowers are still great allies in our quest for rest.
