"Cachalot" is a sculptural lighting object that draws inspiration from the formative elements in nature." - Yoshiki Matsuyama, Designer  When Japanese lighting brand Ambientec asked Yoshiki Matsuyama to design a new portable lamp with a “creature motif” amidst the chaos of the Corona disaster, the designer wished to wrap the world in light that sings serenity and untroubled calm. It is no surprise then that it was the image of the soothing sperm whale swimming leisurely in the vast ocean that came to his mind. Just as the dignified sperm whale moves through the sea with grace and effortless elegance, a warm light flows throughout the room and echoes into the night a sense of quiet peace and calm.
