This alternator is a full-effort 320 amp unit designed for hardcore enthusiasts who want the highest peak alternator output possible. This unit has a custom internal voltage regulator preset to 14.9 volts cold, (approximately 14.5 volts hot) that will require the installer to solder in the provided alternator pigtail. Because this unit charges slightly higher than the original voltage setpoint, the “check battery” light will stay on in the dash. This 320 amp S Series alternator is designed for maximum output at 2,000 RPM engine speed, and will not charge well at engine idle RPM speeds below 800 rpm.
