History in the flow: The Römer-Lippe route has been replacing the well-known Roman route since spring 2013. The new bike path with the subtitle "History in the River" connects water experience and Roman culture on the longest river in North Rhine-Westphalia-the Lippe. From the Hermanns monument near Detmold, 295 km is cycled through the Teutoburg Forest, Sauerland and Münsterland as well as the metropolis of Ruhr to the Lower Rhine into the Roman city of Xanten. Roman camps, green floodplain landscapes, historically attractive city centers and numerous exciting sights await the cyclist on his tour. The main route complement thematic paths.
