This pattern has been translated into modern terms from a Peterson's Magazine issue written by Mrs. Jane Weaver in January 1863. Mrs. Weaver writes, "These very pretty little purses are now much used, and as they are easy of execution, we are sure that many young ladies will feel inclined to make one, either for her own use or as a New Years present."
